Competitor Price Monitoring

Ecommerce competitor price monitoring for supported changes

Content Radar detects supported competitor price increases and decreases on compatible public ecommerce stores. Each detected change becomes a Product Event that your team can review in Recent changes and in-app alerts.

Best for ecommerce and retail teams that need a reliable record of supported public price movement. Pricing strategy and price setting remain outside the product.

Supported price events

Illustrative values from one store

USD
  • Everyday Backpack

    Price decreased

    $84 to $72
  • Travel Bottle

    Price increased

    $28 to $31
  • Canvas Weekender

    Price decreased

    $110 to $96

Currency gate

Both values need the same known currency.

Check cadence

Manual checks and one daily scheduled check.

Who it is for

Replace repeated storefront checks with a saved price history

Ecommerce, retail, growth, and founder teams often reopen the same competitor product pages, copy prices into a sheet, and try to remember what changed. That process becomes unreliable as the store list grows.

The manual problem

  • A product page must be found and opened again.
  • The previous price has to be available for comparison.
  • Currency and product context can disappear in a spreadsheet.
  • The team still needs a place to review and discuss the change.

How detection works

A baseline gives each later price check context

Price monitoring starts with a compatible store and a one-time catalog import. Later checks can then identify supported movement from the saved value.

  1. 01

    Confirm store compatibility

Content Radar checks public access, catalog structure, and server-visible product data before saving a store.

  2. 02

    Import the baseline catalog

The first import records the products and supported prices available at setup. It creates the reference point without creating price events.

  3. 03

    Compare a later check

A manual Check for changes or the daily scheduled check compares supported product prices with the saved baseline.

  4. 04

    Review the detected change

A supported increase or decrease becomes a Product Event and appears in Recent changes and the in-app alerts feed.

Store compatibility

Public access and readable product data come first

Content Radar can work with compatible public Shopify, WooCommerce, and structured custom stores. Compatibility depends on the storefront response, catalog structure, and stable product signals. The platform name alone is insufficient.

  • Public storefront with no password or account requirement
  • Catalog data available to a server request
  • Supported product URLs and stable public price fields
  • Bounded discovery and refresh requests complete successfully

Currency requirement

A price event needs a valid comparison

Content Radar records a price increase or decrease only when the previous and current values carry the same known currency. Unknown or mismatched currencies do not produce a price event.

Valid example

$84 USD to $72 USD produces a supported decrease event. Unknown and mismatched currencies are excluded.

Review the evidence

Price movement stays connected to the monitored product

Detected changes use the existing Product Monitoring records and review surfaces. The price page is a focused entry point into that workflow.

Product Events

Each supported price increase or decrease is stored as an immutable event with the product and event time.

Recent changes

Review the latest product movement for one store or across the workspace without reopening each storefront.

In-app alerts

Price events enter the in-app alerts feed with read and unread state. External product notifications are not included.

Best fit

Use it for supported public price movement

  • Ecommerce, retail, growth, and founder teams that already check competitor product prices by hand.
  • A focused set of compatible public Shopify, WooCommerce, or structured custom stores.
  • Teams that need a record of supported price increases and decreases alongside other competitor changes.
  • Workflows where daily scheduled checks and manual checks provide a useful review cadence.

Not the best fit

Choose another system for pricing operations

  • Teams that need product matching across stores or a comparison with their own prices.
  • Pricing optimization, repricing, recommendations, or competitor benchmarking workflows.
  • Promotion, sale-event, or compare-at-price detection.
  • Marketplace monitoring, protected stores, or catalogs rendered only by in-browser scripts.

Current limits

What the price record depends on

These limits define the supported workflow and should be considered before adding a competitor store.

A store must pass the compatibility check. A Shopify, WooCommerce, or custom platform label does not guarantee support.
Price events require known, matching currencies on the saved and current values. Store-default currency handling is not yet hardened.
Coverage is bounded by public access, readable product data, request limits, and completed scans. It is not a complete catalog record.
Checks run manually and once per day on the configured schedule. Detection follows those checks, and the frequency cannot be customized.
Blocked, password-protected, authenticated, rate-limited, or unsupported stores are reported through compatibility and run states. Content Radar does not bypass those controls.

Competitor price monitoring questions

Content Radar detects supported price increases and decreases when a compatible public store exposes readable product prices and both compared values use a known, matching currency.

Some public Shopify, WooCommerce, and structured custom stores are compatible. Each store must pass a bounded compatibility check for public access, supported catalog structure, and server-visible product data before it is saved.

No. The one-time baseline import records the starting product catalog. Price events begin with later manual or scheduled checks that can compare a supported current value with the saved value.

Supported increases and decreases are stored as Product Events. They also appear in Product Monitoring Recent changes and the in-app alerts feed.

No. It does not match products across stores, compare your own prices with competitor prices, recommend prices, or change prices.

A user can run Check for changes manually, and the configured Product Monitoring schedule runs once per day. The schedule is not user-configurable.
